HS Code Finder
Describe a product and get candidate HS subheadings to check in the official tariff, plus the facts that decide between them.
What this tool can and can't tell you
The Harmonized System (HS) is the World Customs Organization's classification, and its first 6 digits are the same in every country that uses it. Countries then add digits of their own: the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule uses 10 digits, and the UK uses 10 digits for imports and 8 for exports.
Describe exactly what the product is and is made of, in the same terms customs uses (material by weight, knitted or woven, what it does), and the tool suggests two or three candidate 6-digit subheadings, most likely first, with the fact that would decide between them.
- It never gives an 8- or 10-digit national code, only the 6-digit subheading it's confident about, because the national digits and duty rate depend on your country's current tariff, which it can't check for you.
- It never states a duty rate, threshold or trade remedy, since those change and depend on where the product is coming from.

You, as the importer of record, are responsible for the code you declare. For a costly or borderline product, ask a licensed customs broker, or apply for a binding ruling, rather than relying on any tool, including this one.
Questions people ask
Is the code this tool gives me the final code I should use on customs paperwork?
No. It gives you 6-digit candidates to search in the official tariff for your country, where you'll find the full national code and current duty rate. Always confirm there before you ship.
Why does it only give 6 digits?
The first 6 digits of the HS are the same worldwide, so it can suggest those with more confidence. The remaining national digits come from your country's own tariff schedule, which changes and needs checking directly.
What if I already have a code I've been using?
Enter it, and the tool says whether it looks consistent with your description, without declaring it right or wrong, since only a customs authority or broker can do that.
Does it know my product's duty rate?
No. Duty rates, de minimis thresholds and trade remedies depend on the code, the country of origin and current trade policy, so the tool leaves them out entirely.
Is it free?
Yes, with a fair-use limit so it stays free for everyone. There's no sign-up. Your product description is sent to an AI model only to write the result.
