WooCommerce Store API Explorer
Check whether a store's public Store API is reachable, see a few live products, and get starter code for a headless build.
The Store API vs. the REST API
The Store API (wc/store/v1) is different from the authenticated REST API (wc/v3). It's public and read-only by design for browsing: products, categories and a cart, meant to be called straight from a shopper's browser with no key at all.
Cart and checkout actions need to know which cart belongs to which visitor. A GET /cart request returns a Cart-Token header; send that same value back on later cart requests instead of relying on cookies, which is what makes the Store API usable from a headless front end on a different domain.
Using it for a headless build
The starter code this tool gives you fetches products, opens a cart, and adds an item using the Cart-Token pattern above. From there, the checkout endpoint follows the same pattern; see the official Store API docs for its exact required fields.
Questions people ask
Does this need my API key?
No. It only checks the Store API's public read endpoints, which don't need authentication.
Why does it say the Store API isn't listed?
Either the site isn't running WooCommerce, or something (a security plugin, a firewall rule) is blocking the wc/store/v1 namespace from the public API root.
Can I use this to check a competitor's store?
It only reads what's already public to any visitor's browser, the same as any shopper's own browser would.
Does the Store API replace the REST API for building an app?
Only for storefront-style browsing and checkout. Anything that manages the store itself (creating products, changing settings) still needs the authenticated wc/v3 REST API.
