What it checks

Klaviyo authenticates outgoing campaigns and flows with DKIM. Once your sending domain is verified, its CNAME records live under _domainkey subdomains, usually with a kl1 or kl2 selector (older accounts sometimes show km1, kt1 or ks1).

This checker looks up those selectors over public DNS, then checks whether you also have SPF and DMARC records, since Gmail and Yahoo expect DMARC from anyone sending real volume even though Klaviyo itself doesn't require it.

Each Klaviyo account gets its own unique CNAME target, so this tool can't tell you what value to enter, only confirm one is live and show you what it points to. Get the exact values from your own account: Settings > Domains.

If DKIM isn't found

  1. 01

    Open Klaviyo's Domains settings

Settings > Domains > add or select your sending domain.

  2. 02

    Copy the CNAME records shown

Klaviyo shows two or three CNAME records, each with a name and a value unique to your account.

  3. 03

Add them at your DNS host

Same DNS screen you used to connect Shopify: GoDaddy's DNS Management, Namecheap's Advanced DNS, Cloudflare's DNS tab, and so on.

  4. 04

    Re-check here

DNS changes can take a few hours to spread. Run this checker again once you've added the records.

Questions people ask

Do I need SPF and DMARC if I only use Klaviyo?

Klaviyo's own DKIM is enough for Klaviyo to authenticate its mail. But Gmail and Yahoo's bulk sender rules expect a DMARC record (at least p=none) from any domain sending real volume, and DMARC checks that SPF or DKIM passed and aligns.

What if I send from Shopify Email and Klaviyo on the same domain?

Both can coexist. Shopify's own CNAME records handle its email; Klaviyo needs its separate DKIM CNAMEs. DMARC covers both, since it just checks that whichever service sent the mail passed SPF or DKIM.

Why does the checker say it can't confirm my exact values?

Klaviyo assigns a unique CNAME target per account, so there's no single fixed value to check against. The tool confirms a record exists and shows you what it currently points to, so you can compare it with what Klaviyo's Domains page shows.

Is a spam complaint rate or unsubscribe link checkable from DNS?

No. Gmail and Yahoo also require a spam rate under 0.3% and one-click unsubscribe on marketing mail, but neither shows up in DNS. Check those in Klaviyo's deliverability monitoring.
