UCP Checker
Validate your store's Universal Commerce Protocol profile at /.well-known/ucp.
What UCP is and what this checks
The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is an open standard, co-developed by Google, Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, Stripe and others, that lets AI shopping agents discover what a store supports without a custom integration for each agent. A compliant business publishes a JSON manifest at /.well-known/ucp listing its services (how agents connect: REST, MCP or A2A, with an endpoint), the capabilities it exposes (like checkout or catalog search), and any payment_handlers.
This tool fetches that file and checks its shape against the published UCP schema: that it parses as JSON, that ucp.version, ucp.services and ucp.capabilities are present, and that each service and capability entry has the fields UCP requires (version, spec, and endpoint or schema depending on the transport).
- It only validates the manifest's structure, it can't act as an agent and call your checkout or catalog endpoints, since those need an agent's own signed credentials.
- A missing file isn't an error on your part if you haven't adopted UCP yet: it's still an early-stage, opt-in standard.
Publishing a profile
Use the UCP Profile Generator to build the JSON file, then see its guide for how to host it on Shopify or WooCommerce, since both need a small workaround to serve a file at a /.well-known/ path.
Questions people ask
Do I need a UCP profile to sell through ChatGPT or other AI shopping features?
Not always. Some AI shopping features work from your existing product feed or structured data. UCP is for agents that want to search your catalog and check out directly through a machine-readable API.
What does it mean if my file returns HTML instead of JSON?
Your server is likely returning your normal 404 page instead of a real file at that path. See the UCP Profile Generator's setup notes for your platform.
Is UCP finished and stable?
It's an emerging protocol with dated versions (for example 2026-04-08). Expect the schema to keep changing; re-check your profile if you adopted it early.
Does this tool submit anything or contact UCP agents?
No. It only reads the public file at your domain's /.well-known/ucp path.
