Regional and BNPL specialists (check current coverage yourself)
Klarna, Affirm and Afterpay/Clearpay are the main dedicated BNPL options with WooCommerce plugins; each has its own, changing country list, so check the provider's own site rather than relying on a fixed list here. For regional strength: Razorpay is the default in India, Paystack and Flutterwave lead in much of Africa, and PayFast is a common choice in South Africa.
Not shown for this selection: Mollie.
Why country coverage varies so much
A payment processor needs to be able to legally pay out to a business bank account in your country before it'll let you sign up at all, separate from which currencies it can charge shoppers in. That's why WooPayments, Stripe and Square each publish their own, different list of countries where a merchant can actually open an account, even though all three can charge cards from almost anywhere in the world.
| Gateway | Merchant countries | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WooPayments | 39 countries | Built into WooCommerce, no separate plugin. Includes in-person Tap to Pay in supported countries. |
| Stripe | 44 countries | India and Indonesia are in preview, not fully available. Extends to 5 African countries via Paystack. |
| PayPal Payments | Most countries | Broadest reach; check PayPal's own country list for your exact market. |
| Square | 8 countries | Strongest if you also sell in person with Square hardware. |
| Mollie | ~20 European countries | Popular for iDEAL, Bancontact and other local European bank methods. |
Using the finder
Pick your business's registered country and whether you need WooCommerce Subscriptions support or buy-now-pay-later, and the list filters to what actually covers that combination. Cash on delivery and manual bank transfer are always shown since they're built into WooCommerce core and need no sign-up anywhere.
What this doesn't cover
- Dedicated BNPL specialists (Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay/Clearpay) and regional leaders (Razorpay in India, Paystack and Flutterwave in Africa, PayFast in South Africa) aren't scored here since their own country lists change often; check each provider's site directly if one of these fits your market.
- Coverage changes. Re-check the source links before committing to a gateway for a new market.
- This doesn't compare processing fees, which vary by country, card type and volume; check each provider's own pricing page.
Questions people ask
Can I use more than one payment gateway at once?
Yes, WooCommerce shows every enabled, applicable gateway at checkout and lets the shopper pick. Many stores run WooPayments or Stripe alongside PayPal and cash on delivery.
Why isn't Stripe available in my country even though it processes my currency?
Stripe (like the others) restricts where a business can actually register a merchant account to a specific list of countries, separate from which currencies or card networks it can charge. Check Stripe's own country list; a currency being supported doesn't mean merchant sign-up is open there.
Is PayPal always available?
It's the broadest option in this list, but not universal. Confirm your specific country on PayPal's own list rather than assuming.
What should I use if nothing here covers my country?
Look at regional specialists (Razorpay, Paystack, Flutterwave, PayFast, and similar processors focused on specific regions), which often support countries the global players don't.
Does subscriptions support mean it works with WooCommerce Subscriptions specifically?
It means the gateway generally supports recurring/tokenized charges, which WooCommerce Subscriptions needs. Confirm compatibility with your WooCommerce Subscriptions version before relying on it.
