Three costs, added up per Store tier
Every eBay Store tier changes three numbers at once: the monthly subscription, how many listings you get free before the insertion fee kicks in, and your final value fee rate. The calculator runs your order volume and average order through every tier and ranks them by total monthly cost.
Example (the calculator's starting numbers)
- 60 orders/mo, $45 average, 300 listings/mo, Most categories
- No Store
- $0 + $17.50 insertion + $391.20 fees = $408.70
- Basic Store (yearly)
- $21.95 + $0 insertion + $366.90 fees = $388.85
Basic is cheapest here, saving $19.85 a month ($238 a year) over selling with no Store.

| No Store | $0 | 250 | $0.35 |
| Starter | $4.95 | 250 | $0.30 |
| Basic | $21.95 | 1,000 | $0.25 |
| Premium | $59.95 | 10,000 | $0.10 |

Starter Store gets the same final value fee rate as no Store at all: its only benefit is more free listings, so it rarely wins on cost alone. Basic and above unlock the lower Store final value fee rate in most categories.
Before you switch
- Yearly billing is cheaper per month but locks you in, and eBay can charge an early termination fee if you cancel a yearly Store early. Check the Store terms first.
- Category matters. The final value fee saving per order varies a lot by category (it's much larger for coins than for guitars), so re-run this with your actual category before deciding.
- Listings you don't need don't help. Only count listings you'd actually create; padding the number just to hit a tier doesn't change your real cost.

Questions people ask
Is an eBay Store worth it?
Only past a certain order volume. At low volume, the lower final value fee rate doesn't save enough to cover the monthly subscription. This calculator finds your break-even point.
What's the difference between Starter and Basic Store?
Starter costs less but keeps the same final value fee rate as having no Store at all, only adding more free listings. Basic and higher tiers also lower your final value fee rate.
Does a Store save more on some categories than others?
Yes. Categories like coins and trading cards have a bigger gap between the no-Store and Store final value fee rates, so a Store pays for itself at a lower order volume.
Should I pay for my eBay Store monthly or yearly?
Yearly billing is cheaper per month on every tier, but it's a commitment for the year and cancelling early can cost a termination fee. Monthly is safer if your volume is unpredictable.
Does the free listing allowance include listings that don't sell?
Yes. eBay counts fixed-price listings you create (including relists) against your monthly free allowance, whether or not they sell.
