Your brief

These form details are sent to our AI provider when you generate. Review the result before publishing.

How the names are built

The generator reads what you sell or do, who buys it and the feel you want, then writes names in the style you pick: invented words, real words used in a new way, descriptive names paired with a distinctive word, names built around your own name, or a mix.

  • Distinctive over descriptive. A name that only describes the product, such as "Soft Dog Beds", is hard to protect as a trademark and easy to confuse with a competitor's. If you use a descriptive word, it's paired with a distinctive one.
  • Room to grow. If you mention products or services you may add later, the names aren't tied to only what you sell today.
  • No claims it can't back up. Words like "organic", "eco" or "handmade" only appear in a name if your details support them.

Every idea comes with a matching .com domain (lowercase, spaces and apostrophes removed, "&" written as "and") so you can see right away which names read cleanly as a web address.

Before you register anything

The generator can't check whether a name is actually free to use: it has no access to trademark databases, domain registries or social platforms. Run every finalist through these checks before you spend money on it.

  1. 01

    Search the trademark databases

Search the name in the USPTO trademark search if you sell in the US, and the WIPO Global Brand Database for other countries. Look for the same or similar-sounding names on related products, not only exact matches.

  2. 02

Search the web and social platforms

Search Google, Instagram, TikTok and the marketplaces you sell on for a business already using the name.

  3. 03

    Check the domain and handles

Check the domain with a registrar and the social handles on each platform you plan to use. Nothing is yours until you register it.

  4. 04

    Get a second opinion

Say your top three out loud to a few people and ask them to spell it back. Before you pay for a logo or packaging, have a trademark attorney run a clearance search.

Pitfalls

  • Descriptive names are the weakest legally. The USPTO ranks marks from strongest (invented or arbitrary) to weakest (descriptive, generic). A weak mark is harder to register and easier for a competitor to get close to.
  • Don't fall for the first good one. Generate a full batch, shortlist three, and run all three through the checks. The first idea you like is rarely the one that survives a trademark search.
  • A name isn't a brand. Once you've picked one, back it with a slogan and a brand voice guide so it reads consistently everywhere.

Questions people ask

Can I trust that a suggested name is available?

No. The generator writes names from your details, but it has no way to check trademarks, domains or social handles. Always run the checklist before you use a name anywhere public.

What's the difference between the name styles?

Invented words are made up (easiest to trademark), real words with a new meaning borrow an existing word, descriptive names hint at the product, and "Uses my name" builds every idea around your own name. Mixed gives you a spread of all of them.

Should I pick a descriptive or a distinctive name?

Distinctive names are stronger trademarks and age better if you expand your product line. A descriptive name can work for a narrow niche store, but pair it with a distinctive word so it isn't generic.

Do I need the .com domain?

It's the safest default for a US-focused store, since most shoppers assume it. If you'd rather use a country code or a newer extension, use the online store name generator, which lets you set the extension.

What if I already have products I sell, plus others I might add?

List today's products under what you sell, and add the future ones under "Products or services that may come later" so the generator avoids names that box you in.
