Ecommerce Business Plan Generator
Write a full or lean business plan for your online store, using the SBA's standard sections, with your unit economics pulled straight from the calculators.
Two formats, built on the SBA's outline
The Full business plan follows the traditional sections the U.S. Small Business Administration lists (executive summary, company description, market analysis, products, marketing and sales, operations, financial projections, funding request or startup budget, risks and milestones), adapted for an online store. The Lean one-page plan compresses the same thinking into short bullets on one screen.
Pick For a lender or investor and the plan ends with a funding request built from your startup budget; pick For myself and it becomes a startup budget section instead.
The numbers are calculated, not guessed
The model never does the math itself. The tool works out your unit economics (gross margin, contribution per order, break-even ROAS, break-even orders per month) from the prices and costs you give it, and hands the model an exact set of lines to copy into the plan word for word.
Default example: linen shirt store
- Average order value
- $68
- Product cost per order
- $22
- Shipping and packaging
- $6.50
- Fees (2.9% + $0.30)
- $2.27
- Contribution per order before marketing
- $68 − $22 − $6.50 − $2.27 = $37.23
The plan's Unit economics section shows these lines exactly, plus a break-even ROAS worked out from them.
Leave a number out and the plan writes a placeholder for it, such as [month 6 orders], instead of inventing one.
Before you rely on it
- Recheck your contribution per order with the contribution margin calculator, which also accounts for returns and discounts that this plan leaves out.
- Find the ad spend you can afford with the break-even ROAS calculator.
- Add up your full launch costs with the ecommerce startup cost calculator.
- Replace every [placeholder in square brackets] before you show the plan to anyone.
Questions people ask
Does the plan calculate my numbers correctly?
The tool calculates your unit economics itself from the prices and costs you enter, and the model is told to copy those figures exactly rather than recompute them. Still, recheck the output against the contribution margin calculator before you rely on it.
What if I don't have all my costs yet?
Add what you have. The plan works out what it can and marks the rest as a placeholder for you to fill in, rather than guessing.
Full plan or lean one-pager?
Full plan if you're sharing it with a lender, investor or partner. Lean one-pager if it's mainly to organize your own thinking quickly.
Does it promise a certain profit or growth rate?
No. Every projection is labeled as an estimate built from your own numbers, never a promise.
