Shopify Bulk Tag Editor
Add, remove or rename tags across your whole catalog by rule.
How it works
Export your products (Products → Export), then upload the file here. Pick an action:
- Add puts one or more tags on every product in the file.
- Remove takes tags off, either an exact match or anywhere the tag contains your text.
- Rename swaps one tag for another everywhere it appears.
Only Handle and Tags come back in the download (plus Title, for reference), so an overwrite import touches nothing else about your products.
Importing the result
- 01
Go to Products → Import
Upload the downloaded CSV in your Shopify admin.
- 02
Check "Overwrite products with matching handles"
This tells Shopify to update the matched products instead of creating new ones.
- 03
Review the tag list
Shopify's tag filters in Products let you spot-check that the right products picked up the new tags.
Questions people ask
Will this remove tags I didn't ask about?
No. Only the tags matching your rule are changed; everything else in the Tags column stays as it was.
Can I run several rules at once?
Run the tool once per rule and re-import between each. Each export from Shopify reflects the latest saved tags.
Is tag matching case-sensitive?
No, matching ignores case, but the tag you add is saved exactly as you typed it.
What's the tag limit per product?
Shopify allows up to 250 tags per product; this tool doesn't enforce that limit for you, so keep an eye on very long tag lists.
