Pays more for this sale

StockX

StockX pays $5.10 more: StockX $176.00 vs GOAT $170.90.

StockX payout (Level 1)
$176.00
GOAT take-home
$170.90
Difference
$5.10

The payout is only half of it. Check the highest bid or lowest ask on each platform: a sale price $10 higher on one usually beats a small fee gap on the other.

One price, two fee structures

StockX and GOAT charge fees differently enough that the cheaper platform can flip depending on your seller status on each. This tool takes one sale price and runs it through both: StockX's Seller Level transaction fee plus 3% processing, and GOAT's rating-based commission plus its seller fee and optional cash-out fee.

Example (the calculator's starting numbers, $200 sale, StockX Level 1, GOAT 90+ rating, US prepaid, cashing out)

StockX: transaction (9%) + processing (3%)
$18.00 + $6.00
StockX payout
$176.00
GOAT: commission (9.5%) + seller fee + cash-out
$19.00 + $5.00 + $5.10
GOAT take-home
$170.90

StockX pays $5.10 more on this sale. The gap changes with your Seller Level, GOAT rating, location and whether you cash out.

The payout isn't the whole decision

  • Bid and ask differ by platform. A small fee edge on one platform is often smaller than the price gap between the highest bid or lowest ask on each. Check both before you decide where to list.
  • Your status on each platform matters. A high StockX Seller Level or a strong GOAT rating can flip which platform is cheaper for you specifically, even on the same item.
  • Keeping GOAT earnings as credit (skipping the cash-out fee) closes most of the gap if you plan to buy on GOAT anyway.

Questions people ask

Does StockX or GOAT pay more?

It depends on your seller status on each and the price. At a $200 sale with a Level 1 StockX seller and a 90+ GOAT rating cashing out, StockX pays about $5 more, but a higher StockX level or a lower GOAT rating changes that.

Are StockX and GOAT fees structured the same way?

Similar in shape (a percentage fee plus a smaller processing or seller charge) but different in the details: StockX's rate depends on your Seller Level, GOAT's on your seller rating, and only GOAT has a separate cash-out fee.

Should I compare the sale price too, not just fees?

Yes. The highest bid or current ask often differs between the two platforms by more than the fee gap, so check both before deciding where to sell a specific pair.

Does avoiding GOAT's cash-out fee change the comparison?

Yes. Turning off cash-out in the calculator removes GOAT's 2.9% fee, which often makes GOAT pay more than StockX on the same sale.
