How Whatnot fees work now
Since 21 September 2026, Whatnot's commission depends on two things: your total sales in a 4-week period (all categories added together) sets your tier, and the category of each sale sets the rate within that tier. The tier you earn applies to the next 4 weeks.
Example (the calculator's starting numbers, US)
- Trading card sold for
- $50, buyer pays $6 shipping
- 4-week sales
- $5,000 (Standard tier, 8%)
- Commission
- 8% × $50 = $4.00
- Processing
- 2.9% × $56 + $0.30 = $1.92
You take home 50 − 4.00 − 1.92 = $44.08, and $24.08 profit on a $20 card.

Canada uses the same rates with C$10,000 to C$85,000 thresholds. The UK and EU start at 6.67% plus VAT, and France and Belgium charge a flat 4% on sports cards and TCG. Australia has its own thresholds (A$10,000 to A$130,000). Japan isn't tiered yet: 8% plus JCT.
Things that change your fees
- High-value orders. In cards, comics, toys, coins, bags and jewelry, the part of a sale above 1,500 carries no commission (a limited-time rule since January 2026). Processing still applies to the whole order.
- Tier timing. Crossing a threshold mid-period lowers your rate for the next period, not straight away. Cancelled orders come off your total.
- Free shipping. If you cover shipping, that cost comes out of your earnings. The processing fee drops a little because the buyer pays less.
- Premier Shop. Its 10% commission discount stacks on your tier rate until 31 October 2026, then ends.

Questions people ask
What percentage does Whatnot take?
In the US, 8% commission for most categories at the Standard tier (4% for coins) plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing on the order total. Commission falls as your 4-week sales grow, down to 4% to 6.5% depending on category.
Does Whatnot charge fees on shipping?
Commission is only on the item's sale price. The processing fee is charged on the full order total, which includes buyer-paid shipping and tax.
How do Whatnot's new commission tiers work?
Your total sales across all categories in a 28-day period set your tier. That tier's rates apply to your next 28 days, and each sale is charged the rate for its category.
Are there fees on giveaways?
No seller fees apply to giveaways because the buyer pays nothing. You still pay the shipping.
How do I get Whatnot's 3% rate?
Rates as low as 3% are custom terms for the highest-volume sellers who work with an account manager. The lowest public rates are 3.5% for coins and 4% for other categories.
