Google Shopping Feed Validator
Upload a Merchant Center product feed and catch missing GTINs, bad price formats and invalid availability values before Google does.
What the validator looks for
It reads your file's headers (CSV or tab-separated, either works) and checks every row against Google's product data specification: the columns Merchant Center requires, and the formats it expects for each one.
- Required columns:
id,title,description,link,image_link,availability,price. A feed missing any of these is flagged before rows are even checked. - id: present, unique, and 50 characters or under.
- title: present, 150 characters or under (longer titles get truncated).
- link and image_link: present and a full URL starting with
http://orhttps://. - availability: one of
in_stock,out_of_stock,preorderorbackorder. - price: a number and a currency code, like
24.00 USD. - gtin: passes the GS1 check-digit test when present; a warning if neither
gtinnormpnis set andidentifier_existsisn't marked false. - condition:
new,refurbishedorusedwhen the column is used.
What this can't check
This only validates the file itself. Merchant Center also checks your website: that prices on the landing page match the feed, that HTTPS works, and that your store meets its policies. Passing this check doesn't guarantee approval, but it clears out the errors that block a feed before it's even reviewed.
Questions people ask
Does this upload my feed to Google?
No. The file is read entirely in your browser and never leaves your computer.
My feed passed here but items are still disapproved in Merchant Center. Why?
Merchant Center also checks things this file-level validator can't see: whether your landing page price matches the feed, your site's policies, and category-specific rules. Check the item's status page in Merchant Center for the exact reason.
Can I upload an XML feed?
This tool reads CSV and tab-separated (TSV) files. Convert an XML feed to CSV first, or use the feed generator to build a TSV or XML feed from a CSV.
What counts as a valid price format?
A number followed by a 3-letter currency code, for example "24.00 USD" or "19.99 GBP". A bare number with no currency code is flagged as a warning.
