6 rows for 6 variants. In Shopify admin, go to Products → Import, upload this file, and leave "Overwrite products with matching handles" unchecked unless you mean to replace an existing product.

How the file is built

Shopify's product CSV puts one row per variant, with product-level fields (title, description, vendor, tags) filled in only on the first row of each product and left blank on the rest. This tool builds exactly that shape from your inputs.

With no variants, it writes a single row with Option1 name set to "Title" and Option1 value set to "Default Title", which is how Shopify represents a simple product with a single "variant" internally.

With variants, it multiplies your option values together (every color with every size, for example) and writes one row per combination, each with its own SKU built from your prefix plus the option values.

Importing the file

  1. 01

    Download the CSV

Check the SKUs and prices look right for every variant row.

  2. 02

    Go to Products → Import

Upload the file. Leave "Overwrite products with matching handles" unchecked unless you're deliberately replacing an existing product.

  3. 03

    Review the import

Shopify emails you when the import finishes, with a link to any rows it couldn't process.

Questions people ask

Can I add more than two variant options?

This form supports two, which covers most products (color and size, for example). Add a third by editing the downloaded CSV directly: add Option3 name and Option3 value columns and fill them in per row.

What's the Product category field for?

It's Shopify's field for the Google product taxonomy category, used for Shopping and analytics. Use the exact path format, like "Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops"; leave it blank if you're not sure.

Does the SKU need to be unique?

Yes, within your store. This tool appends the option values to your SKU prefix so each variant gets a distinct SKU automatically.

Will this set up inventory tracking?

Turning on "Track inventory" sets the Inventory tracker column to "shopify" and fills in the quantity you enter for every variant. Turn it off to import with un-tracked inventory.
