Product Link Preview Checker
Fetch a product URL and see how it previews on WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook and X, based on its Open Graph tags.
What builds a link preview
When someone pastes your product link into a chat app or social post, the app fetches the page and reads its Open Graph tags: og:title, og:description, og:image and og:site_name. Most apps, including WhatsApp and iMessage, use these directly. X (Twitter) prefers its own twitter:* tags but falls back to Open Graph when they're missing.
| Tag | What it controls |
|---|---|
| og:title | The bold headline in the preview card. |
| og:description | The line of text under the title. Some apps show none at all if it's missing. |
| og:image | The preview image. Use at least 1200×630px so it looks sharp everywhere. |
| og:site_name | Shown next to the title on some platforms. |
Questions people ask
Why does my link show no preview at all on WhatsApp?
Usually a missing og:image, or the page taking too long to respond. WhatsApp needs a reachable image URL and a fast enough response to build the card.
Why does X show a different preview than WhatsApp?
X reads its own twitter:card, twitter:title and twitter:image tags first, falling back to Open Graph only when those are missing. If you want more control over the X preview specifically, add the twitter: tags too.
I fixed my tags but the old preview still shows on Facebook.
Facebook caches link previews. Use Facebook's own Sharing Debugger tool to force it to re-fetch your page.
Does this affect my SEO?
Open Graph tags don't directly affect search rankings, but a broken preview means fewer people click through when your product is shared, which affects traffic all the same.
