Shopify App Detector
Fetch a store's homepage and see which common Shopify apps (reviews, popups, chat, loyalty, page builders) it's running publicly.
What this reads
It checks the homepage's HTML and script tags for around 30 recognizable signatures: script domains and code patterns used by common apps for reviews, subscriptions, popups, loyalty, live chat, page building, buy-now-pay-later and analytics.
This only sees what's public in the page a browser loads. Apps that only run inside the Shopify admin, or that don't inject anything into the storefront, won't show up here.
Why this matters for speed
Every app that adds a script to your storefront adds at least one network request the browser has to fetch, and often runs its own JavaScript before or while the page renders. Uninstalling apps you're not actively using is one of the fastest ways to cut page weight, and it costs nothing.
- 01
Review the list
Settings → Apps and sales channels shows everything installed, including apps you may have forgotten about.
- 02
Remove what you don't use
Uninstalling removes the app's script from your storefront automatically for most apps; a few require also removing an embedded block from the theme editor.
Questions people ask
Why didn't this detect an app I know is installed?
It only reads public signatures from the homepage's HTML. An app that only runs on other pages (checkout, account), only in the admin, or that loads without a recognizable script pattern, won't be caught by this scan.
Does more apps always mean a slower store?
Generally yes for anything loaded on every page, though a lot depends on whether the app defers or async-loads its script. A handful of well-optimized apps can be lighter than one poorly built one.
Can I see exactly how much each app costs in load time?
Not from this tool. Use the Shopify speed test for a lite weight estimate, or your browser's own Network tab (right-click → Inspect → Network) for exact request timings on your own store.
Is this the same as what Shopify shows in its own theme app extensions report?
No, this checks public storefront code from the outside; Shopify's admin has its own internal reporting for apps you've installed.
