Amazon Brand Name Generator
Get trademark-friendly brand name ideas for Amazon, each ranked by strength, with the checks to run before you file.
Why an Amazon brand name needs to be a trademark
Brand Registry unlocks A+ Content, brand protection tools and more. To enroll, Amazon says your brand needs an active registered trademark or a pending trademark registration from an accepted trademark office, as a word mark or a design mark with words.
- The name must match the trademark text exactly. Amazon allows capitalization differences, but spaces and symbols must match.
- The brand must be permanently on the product: printed, sewn, etched or engraved, not a sticker or tag.
- No trademark yet? Amazon IP Accelerator connects you with law firms and lets you enroll while your application is pending.
What makes a name easy to register
The USPTO ranks marks from strongest to weakest. The generator aims for the top of the list:
| Type | What it is | USPTO example |
|---|---|---|
| Fanciful | An invented word | Exxon for petroleum |
| Arbitrary | A real word unrelated to the product | Apple for computers |
| Suggestive | Hints at a quality without stating it | Coppertone for sun-tanning products |
| Descriptive | Describes the product. Hard to register without years of use | Avoided |
| Generic | The product's common name. Not registrable | Avoided |
The generator also keeps names to letters only, so the brand you enter in Brand Registry can match the trademark text exactly.
Checking a name before you commit
- 01
Search the USPTO database
Search the name in the USPTO trademark search at
tmsearch.uspto.gov. Look for similar-sounding and similar-looking names for related goods, not just exact matches. - 02
Search Amazon
Search the name on Amazon to see whether another seller already uses it.
- 03
Check the domain and handles
Make sure the .com and your main social handles are free, even if you only sell on Amazon for now.
- 04
Get advice before you file
A trademark attorney can run a full clearance search. Amazon IP Accelerator is one way to find one.
The tool can't check trademarks or domains, so it never claims a name is available. Treat every idea as a starting point for these checks.
Questions people ask
Do I need a trademark to sell on Amazon?
Not to sell, but you do to enroll in Brand Registry, which you need for A+ Content and brand protection. Amazon accepts registered trademarks and some pending ones.
Can I register a descriptive name like "Soft Dog Beds"?
Usually not at first. The USPTO says descriptive marks need distinctiveness built through use over time, and generic names can't be registered at all.
Are these names available?
The tool can't tell you. Search each one in the USPTO database and on Amazon, check the domain, and get legal advice before filing.
Should my brand name include what I sell?
Better not. A descriptive name is weaker as a trademark and can box you in when you add new products.
Is it free?
Yes, with a fair-use limit so it stays free for everyone. There's no sign-up. Your notes are sent to an AI model only to write the copy.
