How BigCommerce's rows map across

BigCommerce's product export uses an Item Type column: a row of type “Product” starts a new product, and the “SKU” rows that follow it are its variants, each already carrying its own Option1/Option2 Name and Value. This tool reads that structure directly and rebuilds it as a WooCommerce variable product: one parent row plus one variation row per SKU row.

Pitfalls

  • Column names on export files change between app versions and store settings. This tool matches a wide set of likely header names and shows a live preview, so check the preview against your file before you download.
  • A “SKU” row that appears before any “Product” row is skipped, since it has nowhere to attach: make sure your export starts with a Product row for each item.
  • BigCommerce supports more option types (swatches, text fields) than a simple name/value pair. Check option-heavy products after import.

Questions people ask

What if Item Type is missing from my export?

Every row is treated as its own simple product. Re-export using BigCommerce's full product CSV template if you need variations grouped.

Do product images come across?

The first numbered Product Image File column is used. Add more image columns to the download by hand if you exported several.

Will my BigCommerce category tree transfer?

The Category column is copied as text. Rebuild your actual WooCommerce category hierarchy separately, then match products to it.

Can I also bring over customer accounts?
