Magento to WooCommerce Converter
Convert a Magento 2 product export into a WooCommerce product CSV, turning configurable products into variable products.
Configurable products
Magento packs a configurable product's variants into a single configurable_variations cell, like sku=A,color=Red,size=S|sku=B,color=Red,size=M. This tool parses that field and builds a WooCommerce variable product from it: one parent row and one variation row per entry, using whichever attribute keys it finds (up to two).
Simple products convert directly using sku, name, description, price, qty, categories and image.
Exporting and importing
- 01
Export from Magento
Admin → System → Export, entity type Products, and include
configurable_variationsin the attribute list. - 02
Convert
Upload here. Variation rows come across without a price or stock count, since Magento doesn't store those on the configurable_variations cell, so fill in Regular price and Stock on the download.
- 03
Import into WooCommerce
Products → All Products → Import.
Pitfalls
- Column names on export files change between app versions and store settings. This tool matches a wide set of likely header names and shows a live preview, so check the preview against your file before you download.
- If your export also lists each configurable product's child SKUs as their own “simple” rows (common when visibility is set to Not Visible Individually), remove those rows from your source file first, or you'll get them twice: once as the variation built from configurable_variations, and once as a separate simple product.
- Magento's multi-level category paths (separated by
/) are converted to WooCommerce's>separator automatically.
Questions people ask
Does this handle Magento's grouped or bundle products?
No. Grouped and bundle product types need to be rebuilt manually in WooCommerce, since they don't map cleanly onto WooCommerce's simple/variable model.
What if configurable_variations isn't in my export?
Re-export from Magento's admin export tool and add it to the attribute list, or the configurable product converts with no variations.
Will prices and stock transfer for variations?
Not automatically: fill them in on the variation rows in the download, since Magento's configurable_variations cell only carries the SKU and attribute values.
Can I check the file before importing?
Yes, run it through the WooCommerce CSV validator first.
