Care Instructions Generator
Turn a care label into plain-language washing instructions and a symbols guide for the product page, in the units you sell.
The label is the source, not a guess
US law requires a permanent care label sewn into most textile garments, stating a washing or dry-cleaning method under the FTC's Care Labeling Rule. This tool doesn't replace that label: it turns the same instructions into a plain-language product page section, plus a table explaining what the label's symbols mean, so shoppers can check care before they buy rather than after the tag's been cut off.
Paste your label wording ("Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, lay flat to dry, cool iron") and it's rewritten step by step, in the temperature units you choose, with a symbols table covering washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and dry cleaning for exactly the steps your label gives, no more and no fewer.
No label text? It writes conservative, general care for the fabric and product type you pick instead, and opens with a reminder to always follow the label sewn into the actual item.
What it won't claim
- It never calls a fabric stain-proof, shrink-proof or wrinkle-free unless your details say so.
- Temperatures are converted using fixed washing and ironing reference points, never estimated.
- A finish or trim you mention (a print, a leather patch, a water-repellent coating) gets its own care tip, like washing inside out to protect a print.
Questions people ask
Does adding this to my product page replace the physical care label?
No. US law still requires a permanent care label on the garment itself. This is a plain-language copy for the product page, so shoppers can check before buying, not a substitute for the sewn-in label.
What if I don't have my care label wording handy?
Leave it blank and choose the product type; the tool writes general, conservative care guidance for that fabric and adds a line reminding shoppers to check the physical label.
Can it show temperatures in both °C and °F?
Yes, choose °C and °F and every temperature is written both ways, like 40 °C (104 °F).
Does it cover dry cleaning?
Yes, if your label mentions it. The symbols table includes a dry cleaning row only when your care instructions cover it.
Is it free?
Yes, with a fair-use limit so it stays free for everyone. There's no sign-up. Your product and label details is sent to an AI model only to write the result.
