Product FAQ Generator
Turn product details into the questions shoppers ask before buying, with clear answers and FAQPage JSON-LD ready to paste.
Why product pages need an FAQ
Every question a shopper can't answer on the page is a reason to leave, or another email in your inbox. A short FAQ below the description catches the questions that stop the sale: sizing, compatibility, care, what's in the box, returns.
The generator writes questions in the shopper's words and answers each one directly, using only the facts you give it. When your notes can't answer a common question, it lists that question separately so you can fill it in, rather than letting the AI guess.
FAQ markup: what it does now
Google limited FAQ rich results to well-known government and health sites in 2023, then stopped showing them in Search from May 7, 2026. Adding FAQPage markup won't bring back the expandable questions under your listing.
The markup is still valid schema.org vocabulary. It gives search engines and AI assistants a structured copy of your questions and answers, but none of them promises a visible result for it. The FAQ shoppers can see is what does the work, so treat the JSON-LD as an optional extra.
- Keep it in sync. Google's structured data guidelines say not to mark up content that isn't visible on the page. Only add the JSON-LD where the same questions are shown.
- One FAQ per page. Mark up each product's own questions, not a sitewide FAQ repeated on every product.
Adding the FAQ to your store
- 01
Shopify
Paste the HTML version at the end of the product description, or into a collapsible row if your theme has one. For a different FAQ on each product, store it in a metafield and connect it in the theme editor.
- 02
WooCommerce
Paste the HTML into the product's long description using the Text tab, or into a Custom HTML block.
- 03
The JSON-LD
Wrap it in
<script type="application/ld+json">and</script>and add it to the same page: in your Shopify theme's product template, or with a WooCommerce code snippet or SEO plugin. - 04
Validate it
Paste the code into the Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org to confirm the JSON is valid.
Questions people ask
Will FAQ schema get me rich results on Google?
No. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search in May 2026, after limiting them to government and health sites in 2023. The markup is still valid, but the visible FAQ is what helps shoppers.
How many questions should a product FAQ have?
Four to eight is usually enough. Pick the questions that stop people buying, and leave general store questions to your help page.
Can the AI make up answers?
It's told to answer only from your details and to list separately any questions it can't answer. Check every answer before publishing, especially sizing, compatibility and safety details.
Can I use the same Q&A in Google Merchant Center?
Yes, with some trimming: Merchant Center's Q&A must leave out prices, dates and store policies. The Merchant Center Q&A feed builder writes it in the feed format.
Where should the FAQ go on the page?
Below the main description, or in a collapsible section near it. Shoppers who need it will look there, and it doesn't push the Add to cart button down.
