WooCommerce Product Description Generator
Get both WooCommerce description fields at once: a long HTML description for the main editor and a short one for beside the price.
Two fields, two jobs
WooCommerce gives every product two description fields, and most themes show them in different places. Writing the same text into both wastes the space next to the Add to cart button.
| Field | Where it usually shows | What it should do |
|---|---|---|
| Long description (main editor) | The Description tab below the product | Sell the product in full: benefits, features, specs and care |
| Product short description | Beside the product images, near the price | Say what it is and give the three facts shoppers check before buying |
The generator writes both from the same notes. The long one opens with what the product does for the customer, then feature bullets and a practical closing paragraph. The short one is a single sentence and three short bullets.
Adding both to WooCommerce
- 01
Open the product
In your WordPress admin, go to Products and open the product you're writing for, or add a new one.
- 02
Paste the long description
Use Copy code on the first block. In the main editor, switch to the Text tab and paste. If your products use the block editor, paste into a Custom HTML block instead.
- 03
Paste the short description
Copy the second block into the Product short description box below the product data panel. Use its Text tab too, so the list stays a list.
- 04
Check the product page
Preview it on a phone. The short description should sit near the price without pushing the Add to cart button far down the screen.
Pitfalls and limits
- It only uses your facts. Materials, sizes and care details come from your notes, so give numbers wherever you have them.
- Keep the short one short. A long short description pushes Add to cart down on phones. One sentence and three bullets is plenty.
- Variable products can share one description. Details that differ by variation belong in each variation's own description field.
- Google Merchant Center asks for product descriptions written with generative AI to be submitted in the
structured_descriptionattribute. If a feed plugin sends your WooCommerce descriptions to Google, check how it handles this.
Questions people ask
What's the difference between the description and the short description?
The long description is the full sales copy, usually shown in the Description tab below the product. The short description is a summary that most themes show next to the product images, close to the price.
Can I paste the HTML into the Visual tab?
Use the Text tab or a Custom HTML block instead. Pasting HTML into the Visual tab shows the tags as text on your product page.
How long should a WooCommerce short description be?
Short enough to read at a glance: this tool keeps it under 60 words. The job is to confirm what the product is and the key facts, not to repeat the long description.
Is it free?
Yes, with a fair-use limit so it stays free for everyone. There's no sign-up. Your notes are sent to an AI model only to write the copy.
Does it write in other languages?
Yes: English (US and UK), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese. Pick one from the Language menu.
