Your brief

These form details are sent to our AI provider when you generate. Review the result before publishing.

Five name styles

  • Descriptive says what the product does (Stretch Lid Set). Clear, but the USPTO notes descriptive names are harder to register as trademarks.
  • Suggestive hints at a quality without stating it (Harbor Mist for a sea-salt candle). The USPTO treats suggestive marks as strong.
  • Invented word is a new word (Zyra): strongest to protect, but needs explaining to shoppers.
  • Compound word joins two real words (Stepwell, Pawpilot).
  • Mixed spreads across styles, each one labeled.

Describe the product and what makes it different, and the tool gives 10, 15 or 20 names, then picks its strongest three and adds availability hints for those: length, how distinctive the name is, a likely .com form to try, and words people might misspell.

Checking a name before you use it

  • Search the USPTO's trademark database (or your country's) for the name and close spellings in your product class.
  • Search Amazon, Etsy and Google for the name plus your product type, to see if another seller already uses it.
  • Check the domain and the social handles you'd want.
  • For a name you'll invest real money in, get a trademark attorney to run a clearance search.

The tool can't check any register, so it never says a name is available. Treat its hints as a starting point for your own search, not a clearance.

Questions people ask

Will it tell me if a name is available?

No. It can't search trademark registers, marketplaces or domains, so it gives hints (how distinctive the name is, a likely domain form) rather than a yes or no. Run the checks under How to check a name before you commit.

What's a suggestive name and why does the USPTO like them?

A name that hints at a benefit without stating it outright, like Harbor Mist for a sea-salt candle. The USPTO's own guidance treats suggestive marks as inherently strong, easier to register and defend than descriptive ones.

Can I avoid names that sound like a competitor's?

Yes, list the competitor names to avoid and it keeps new names different in sound and meaning from them.

Does it name companies too, or only products?

Only the product itself, not the company or store it's sold under. Give the brand name under Brand or store it sits under and the names are written to sit alongside it.

Is it free?

Yes, with a fair-use limit so it stays free for everyone. There's no sign-up. Your product notes is sent to an AI model only to write the result.
